Abstract: In this paper,the global and the local techniques for imageenhancement are discussed and analysed. The characteristics and the virtuesand defects of each techniques suitable to different images are also summarizedand several algorithms for two techniques are described in this paper.Meanwhile it presents the development trend of image enhancementtechniques.
