Abstract: he selection of materials for spacecraft constructures requires evaluation of candidate materials which can perform reliably in the space environment.Understanding the effects of the space environment on the materials is an important step in the selection of candidate materials. This work examines the effects on polymer and composites properties induced by atomic oxygen exposure in the space low Earth orbit environment. It describes the simulated evaluation about the properties of candidate materials.lt analyses the mechanisms of the observed effects and protection meanse from damage.Considerations for the future materials development are suggested.
