Abstract: This paper presents a survey of satellite constellations, Particularly the various constellations of continuous whole-Earth coverage by the patterns of satellites in equalperiod cirular orbits, including ideal satellite constellations, practical satellite constellations, coverage properties of satellite constellations and the number and form of the Earth-tracks for satellite constellations. Finally, some applications of satellite constellations are also discussed in this paper.
