Abstract: TheconfigurationofADAM-typearticulatedmastwasdescribed,andmain configuration parameterswerechosen. FiniteelementmodelsoftheADAM-typemastwerebuiltupbyANSYS.Usingthesemodels,modeanalysiswascarriedout.By comparingtheanalysisresultswithexperimentresults,thecorrectnessofthefiniteelementmodelswasvalidated.Theeffectsofbaylength,canisterradius,crosssectionsideandpreloadofthediagonalcablesontheperformanceofthemastwereanalyzed.Theanalysisresultsshowthattheperformancecanbeimprovedbyincreasingthebaylength.Thebendingstiffnessandmassofthemastwillbepromotedasthecanisterradiusincreases.Thepreloadsofthediagonalcablesshouldbeselectedbetweentheallowableminimumvalueandthevaluecorrespondingtothesituationwhentheballsocketsobtainmaximumstiffness.Theseconclusionscouldbeappliedinmastengineeringdesign.
