Abstract: Inengineeringapplications,thetraditionalwatercooledcoppermagnetcoilsprovidingappliedfieldhavemanydefectssuchaslargevolume,bigmassandhighpowerdissipation,sotheapplicationoftinyvolumeandsmallmasshightemperaturesuperconductor(HTS)coilsonappliedfieldmagnetoplasmadynamicthruster(AFMPDT)isfocusedon.AnHTScoilbyBi2333/Agwasdesignedtosatisfythedemandof02Tcentermagneticfieldstrengthwhichconsistsofthreedoublepancakecoils.TheHTScoilis30mminheight,witha160mminnerdiameter.Tostudytheelectromagneticpropertiesofthecoil, acriticalcurrenttestingsystemwasbuiltbasedontheprincipleofelectrictransportmethod.TheexperimentalresultsshowthatdifferentpancakeshavedifferentcriticalcurrentIC,andmiddlepancakehasthehighestICvalue.Theironplateshavepositiveinfluenceonthecoilelectromagneticproperties,andcanimproveICvalueby42%.Meanwhile,usingelectromagneticsimulationmethod,theeffectofironplatessizeandpositionontheperformancesoftheHTScoilwasresearched,andanoptimizeddesignwassummarized.
