Abstract: This paper presents comprehensively the important applicationof meteorological satellite data in monitoring and studing the formation,and development of typhoon, locating typhoon's position and estima ingits intensity,predicting its movement and heavy rain during its landingetc.in the past three decades.The results show that meteorological satellitetakes a great role and contains a tremendous potentiality in taking precau-tion against and relief from disarster caused by typgoon.
