Abstract: Tosolvethemassivepropellantproblemfordeepspacemissions,theconceptofanelectromagneticpropellerwasproposed.Theinterstellarplasmawasusedaspropellant,andtheelectricdrifteffectwithorthogonalanduniformelectricfieldandmagneticfieldwasusedtoproducethethrust.Dependingontheplasmadriftvelocity,theformulaoftheelectromagneticpropellerwasderivedinthenonrelativisticcaseandtherelativisticcase.Therestrictionofelectromagneticpropellerdesignwasanalyzed.Theelectromagneticpropellerschemeanddemonstrationexperimentsweredesignedfordeepspaceanddragfreecontrolmissionswithpracticalengineeringlevel.Astheresultofcalculation,carryingnopropellant,theelectromagneticpropellerdesigncouldobtain1056m/sspeedincrementperyearontheinterstellartravel.
