Abstract: Toimprovetheperformanceofthehollowcathodeasathruster,ahollowcathodethrusterwithanemittermountedonthetopofthekeeperwasdeveloped.Itisfoundthatthethrustandspecificimpulsegeneratedbyhollowcathodewiththeouteremitterarehigherthanthoseproducedbyhollowcathode.Afurtherstudyshowsthattheioncurrentandionenergyinhollowcathodewithanouteremitterarebothhigherthanthoseinhollowcathode,anditinfersthatthereexistionsaccelerationinthrustproductionmechanisminhollowcathodethrusterwithanouteremittercausingimprovementsinthrustandspecificimpulse.
