Abstract: Focusedonthesingular,indeterminationandthecalculationinefficiencyoftraditionalorbitalelementsbasedonEulerangles,asetofnovelorbitalelementsusingquaternionwasproposed.Therelationshipsofthenovelelementsandtheclassicorbitalelements,aswellasthenovelelementsandthepositionandvelocityintheinertialcoordinatewerebuilt.TheGaussperturbationequationswerederivedbasedonthenovelelements.Thevalidityandadvantageswerevalidatedbythepropagationoftheorbitunder J2 rturbation.Theresultsshowthatthenovelelementscannotonlyavoidthesingularandindeterminationincircularandequatorialorbit,butalsowithhighercalculationefficiencyandaccuracyforitsoperationwithouttrigonometricfunction.
