Non-equilibriumnumericalsimulationofalowpowernitrogen/hydrogenarcjet

Abstract: Thermalandchemicalnonequilibriummodelingsstudywereperformedonalowpowernitrogen/hydrogenarcjet.Separateenergyequationswereformulatedfortheelectronsandtotalspecies,andsevenspeciesnitrogen/hydrogenplasmacompositionofmolecules,atoms,ionsandelectronswasassumed.Someimportantchemicalkineticprocessesofdissociationandionizationwereconsideredinthechemicalnonequilibriummodel.Theplasmapropertieswerecalculatedaccordingtothelocalspeciesnumberdensityandtemperature.Thedistributionoftemperatureandthenumberdensityofeachspeciesinthearcjetwereobtained.Theresultsshowthattheaxisofarcjetisclosetothermalequilibriumandsignificantdeviationfromthermalequilibriumisfoundinthearcattachmentregion.Itisshownthatthespeciesdistributionsofnitrogenandhydrogenaresignificantlydifferentfromthoseattheinletofthruster,whichindicatesthatthereexistthedemixingprocessesinsidethruster.Itisfoundthatthehydrogenspeciesdecreaseatfirstandthenincreasealongtheradialdirectionfromthecentertotheinnerwallofthruster,whilethenitrogencomponentsshowtheoppositetrend.Furtheranalysisshowsthatthespeciesdiffusionsinsidearcjetaredrivenbymolefractiongradientswhichareduetothedissociationandionizationofnitrogenandhydrogenspecies.
